Flanders Nature Center & Land Trust promotes the appreciation and understanding of nature, and supports the conservation and management of valuable natural resources. We offer a broad range of recreational and educational programs for the community. Nature trails at Flanders six nature preserves are open year-round at no cost. We also present seasonal festivities for all ages; programs on nature, farming, and art for young people; a community garden; and lots more. There are many opportunities for volunteering and for enjoying nature's beauty and rural New England traditions. We hope to see you soon. Learn more

UPCOMING EVENTS

October 3: Autumn Fest. A Day of Fun. There will be music by Joe Mangini and drumming from the Offbeats. Curious Critters will be there all day with presentations at 12:30 & 2:30 PM. Come learn about reptiles, amphibians, mammals, insects and much more! There will also be tractor rides, food vendors, maple candy making, children stories, games and crafts, mineral specimens and more! Admission: $5/ person; $10/ family; $20 for groups of 8 or more. Rain or Shine. (Noon – 4 PM, Sugar House & Trail House)

October 12: Columbus Day Vacation Workshop. Celebrate the Season at the Farm. Come meet the animals, go on a tractor ride, decorate a pumpkin and play games. For grades Pre-K – 5th. (1 – 4 PM, North Barn)

October 16: Needle felting. Rachel Gerowe will teach participants how to make pumpkins and gourds out of wool. The cost is $30. (6:30 – 9/9:30 PM, Studio)

October 17: Family Fun. Learn about hawks & owls with the Sharon Audubon Center as they bring in these amazing birds of prey. There will also be games, crafts and a hike to the pumpkin patch. The cost is $20 for member families and $30 for nonmember families. (1 – 3:30 PM, Trail House)

October 22: Black Bears in CT. Paul Rego will present on the history of black bears in the state, their biology and work that is being done with them now. The cost is $10/ person. (7 – 8 PM, Woodbury Senior Center in Woodbury)

October 23: Auction. (6 PM, Heritage Hotel in Southbury)
