From the desk of Arthur Milnor
Dear Friends,
Let me welcome you to Flanders Nature Center & Land Trust’s website.
Like the young family taking their first exploratory hike around the Van Vleck Farm and Nature Sanctuary, as you “surf” the pages of our web site, you will be amazed by the richness and diversity of our wonderful organization.
Click on the North Barn, for example, and you can almost touch and smell the barn yard and farm animals, and see kids enthralled during a school field trip. Or imagine yourself in springtime strolling the botany trail and spying the pink Lady Slipper almost camouflaged among the Christmas ferns. Or watch maple syrup being made at the Sugar House during sugaring season in late February or early March. Still others will want to learn how Flanders is preserving and stewarding over 2000 acres of open space in Woodbury and beyond.
Join us and become part of the excitement. Flanders has hundreds of volunteers doing great things and making a difference in the world around them, and if you want to be part of the fun, there is a place for you.
And while you can sample your first taste of us through the website, you’ll be even more amazed when you attend a program or enjoy a festival, and experience first hand all we have to offer.
But remember, when you’re out hiking on one of our many trails, “take only pictures and leave only footprints.” See you around.
Cordially,
Arthur Milnor, Executive Director
