Sanctuary, Farm and Community GardenUnder the original strategic plan, written in 1963, farming and gardening were important elements of the educational mission of Flanders Nature Center. Today, the tradition continues, as Flanders offers exciting agricultural education programs for children and adults to learn more about important New England farm-based traditions, such as raising animals, growing crops, harvesting hay, keeping bees, and making maple syrup. Special, community-wide seasonal events, such as the Autumn Festival, Farm Day, Maple Celebration and others are held at various locations throughout the Nature Center campus at the Van Vleck Farm. |
